Went out this morning about 7:30 in Hurricanr Bay.  Not much happening in the back part where I live.  When I came around the corner heading towards the Narrows I saw lots of surface activity.  Water temp was just under 80 degrees.   Bass love top water baits when the temp is between 70 & 80.  I had my trusty Whoppeer Plopper tied on.  The surface activity was all around so it didn’t take long to get my first fish.  Bass, 17′ long and a little over 2 lbs.

Over the next 2 hours I caught 12.  The largest was a Small Mouth weighing in a 3lb 2oz.  All the rest were Large Mouth.  They all averaged a little over 2 lbs. If I was ale to land the lure on a splash they would strike it immedately.  I tried to mimick their splash with pretty good success.  Threw to the splash,  pop, pop, pop then reel in and throw again.  I did not get many strikes as I was reeling in the lure. I tried a fluke with some success.  The activity turned off around 10 am.  It was one of the better days that I have had this year.    As the water temp hovers in this range I would hope that the surface activity will continue.  Surface lures are one of my favorites because you to see the strike, hear them hit the bait and feel the fight as you pull in.  Gets all the sences involved.  These are the days I look for!!!
